*The* *Hospice Medical Director is a hospice and palliative care physician who provides strategic leadership to ensure that patients and families receive appropriate end of life medical care. The Hospice Medical Director plans, develops, coordinates, monitors and ensure palliative care standards for Hospice of North Idaho patients in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and community physicians. *

Founded in 1981, HONI is our *community's oldest and largest non-profit hospice*. We employ experts in the field of hospice and palliative medicine, and *provide our staff and volunteers training and education* at every opportunity. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:: *Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school; board certified in an ABMS approved specialty, preferably Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Oncology; prefer board certified or eligible by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABHPM) or Hospice Medical Director certification. Current license to practice in State of Idaho, current DEA, current Idaho Board of Pharmacy. Membership in good standing on the medical staff at Kootenai Medical Center. Five years experience in medical specialty in a practice that includes pain and symptom management, involved in the care and treatment of patients diagnosed with serious, advanced or terminal illnesses; prefer a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in hospice and palliative medicine. Valid driver's license, personal vehicle for on-the-job transportation, and evidence of insurance coverage as required by HONI policy required.

*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:*

• Current medical knowledge and experience in hospice and palliative care practices;

• Demonstrated leadership skills;

• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and function as a member of an interdisciplinary team;

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with referring, primary, and consulting physicians to provide appropriate palliative care to patients;
