*Job Summary:*
The nursing staff play a critical role in the medical management of residential patients, ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures. They provide direct patient care, monitor vital signs, administer medications, observe withdrawal symptoms, document medical information, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans. Nurses must be awake, alert, and attentive to meet the significant needs of our patient population.
*Responsibilities and Duties:*
* Conduct initial nursing assessments and ongoing patient monitoring, including reviewing patient medical history and collecting additional information as needed.
* Monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms using CIWA and COWS scales every 4-8 hours for the first 48 hours, then as directed, observing for signs such as seizures, convulsions, agitation, and hallucinations.
* Administer medications according to prescribed detox protocols and ensure proper documentation in eMARs and patient records.
* Document all care provided in compliance with regulatory standards, including DAP (Data, Assessment, Plan) notes and shift reports.
* Respond to medical emergencies, providing first aid or CPR as necessary and following emergency escalation procedures.
* Educate patients about their condition and provide accurate clinical reporting of patient status and appropriate medical interventions.
* Ensure appropriate referrals to hospitals or other medical services as needed.
* Collaborate with physicians and counselors to develop and implement individualized care plans, including considerations for co-occurring conditions and special populations (e.g., pregnant women, young adults, older adults).
* Participate in multi-disciplinary team approaches, ensuring effective communication and treatment planning.
* Oversee the management of medications, including titration and cessation, and coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required.
* Order and interpret lab tests and assist with discharge planning and referrals to ongoing treatment programs.
* Provide oversight to medical assistants, allergy technicians, and pharmacy technicians as needed.
* Stay updated on new medical treatments and research, applying evidence-based practices in patient care and assessments.
* Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients, ensuring best practices for managing withdrawal-related symptoms.
* Assist with shift transitions, ensuring all pertinent medical information is communicated effectively to incoming staff.
*Qualifications:*
* RN with a valid state nursing license in good standing with the state of New Mexico.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
* Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
* Must be willing to participate in pre-employment screening and drug screen.
* Experience in addiction treatment, behavioral health, or detox services preferred.
* Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
* Familiarity with withdrawal management protocols, including vital sign monitoring schedules and CIWA/COWS assessment tools.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
* Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* BLS/CPR certification required; additional training in withdrawal management preferred.

Pay: $44.00 - $46.00 per hour
