*JOB SUMMARY*: The Lead Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for performing all duties of an RDA and assists the Dental Operations Manager with leading RDA's and DA's. The Lead RDA is expected to provide oversight, leadership, and support for all dental assistants, which includes orienting new dental assistant hires. Lead RDA will also be working with Dental Operations Manager to improve and optimize day-to-day dental operations workflow.
Under the supervision of the Dental Operations Manager or Dentist, the Lead RDA serves as a chairside dental assistant to the Dentist(s) or Dental Hygienist(s). Responsibilities include preparing operatory for patient treatment, taking digital dental radiographs, accurate recording, and documentation of patient records, and educating patients on dental disease prevention. This position also provides emergency back-up telephone coverage, appointment scheduling and payment program documentation in front office.
*This position may split time between our Guerneville and Sebastopol Dental Clinics.*
*Duties:*
LEAD Duties:
* Ensure clinical forms are up to date and good quality copies are accessible.
* Lead by example and oversee efficiency in regular patient flow.
* Replace or strategically reassign staff when the Dental Operations Manager is out.
* Work with phone staff and provider teams to optimize patient scheduling.
* Management of Dental Lab cases - tracking/logging ongoing patient cases.
* Tracking dental materials, ordering, inventory invoices and P.O.'s.
* Float between both dental clinics to provide support when needed.
* Responsible for the maintenance of emergency kits and first aid supplies in the office to ensure they are stocked properly and up to date.
* Identify, report, and follow up on any necessary dental operatory/dental equipment issues.
* Ensure MSDS sheets are up to date.
* Ensure all maintenance duties are completed in a timely and correct manner.
* Ensure clinical staff follow OSHA regulations and safety requirements.
* Ensure clinical staff are compliant with HIPAA guidelines and take corrective action with the support of management if necessary.
* Ensuring compliance binders are being updated and assistant duties are being performed.
* Attend regularly scheduled dental management meetings and check-ins with Dental Operations Manager.
* Responsible for timesheets and payroll approval when management is absent.
* Create, post, and update assistant schedules.
RDA Duties:
* Provide chairside dental assistance to dentist or RDH
* Setup, breakdown and disinfection of dental operatories and laboratory
* Complete instrument processing/sterilization
* Monitor and reinforce patient comfort
* Take and pour impressions
* Coordinate incoming and outgoing laboratory cases
* Take digital radiographs and scans
* Track inventory control procedures and restock materials in dental operatories
* Document procedures in patient charts
* Maintain and document dental equipment maintenance
* Provide emergency back-up telephone coverage, appointment scheduling and other front office duties as assigned.
* Facilitate and conduct visits via video technology to enhance care coordination and access to care.
* Assist in the adoption and implementation of new technologies and activities that improve patient care and clinical efficiencies
* Promotes oral hygiene education and CAMBRA
* Fabricate, place, and cement temporary crowns in accordance with state regulations
* Other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Requirements:*
* Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in the state of California
* Coronal Polish and Pit & Fissure Sealant Certificates - required
* California Radiation Safety Certificate (X-ray license)
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
*Experience:*
* Minimum one year experience in a dental office or clinical setting preferred
* One year experience in a lead or people manager position preferred
* Competency in fabricating and cementing temporary crowns
* Efficiency working with an EHR (Electronic Health Record) and EDR (Electronic Dental Record) is desired
* Basic office and equipment safety knowledge and practice.
* Bilingual Spanish/English desirable.
* Demonstrated commitment and skills to provide appropriate care to a diverse population
*Expectations:*
* Attendance and punctuality is necessary.
* Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team.
* Able to work between dental clinic in Sebastopol and in Guerneville based on need is preferred
* Ability to problem solve and be self-motivated with acute attention to detail.
* Must have a commitment to excellence and high standards.

* Must have excellent written and oral skills, strong organizational and analytical skills.
* Must have ability to manage priorities and workflow.

* Expected to have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to understand and follow written/verbal instructions.
* Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
* Required to have the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
* Demonstrate a positive customer service, patient centered approach at all times.
*Physical Requirements:*
* Must be able to move freely about the office and carry light loads (up to 25 pounds)
* Prolonged standing and /or sitting required.
* Ability to work with office equipment, including computers
