Must have Surgical Technologist Certification

Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic technique

Understanding of principles of surgical positioning

Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment use and care

Identifies, selects and coordinates supplies required for scheduled procedure with circulating nurse

Cleans rooms prior to cases, between cases, and at the end of the day as directed

Prepares work areas by draping, preparing and testing equipment and organizing instrumentation

Anticipates the needs for instruments, ligatures, sponges and irrigation, as well as other needs during the procedure

Keeps field clean and free of used sponges, suture ends, and instruments

Graduate of a technical school for the training of surgical technicians or equivalent.'
