C.A.R.E.4Paws' Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach program delivers affordable veterinary care where it is needed most. Operating out of two state-of-the-art mobile units, our team provides spay/neuter surgeries, dental procedures, wellness services, vaccinations, and medical care to cats and dogs across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo (SLO) counties.
We operate Tuesday-Friday plus the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month in both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
A big part of our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the well-being of pet families by making veterinary care accessible and compassionate.

*Position Overview*
We seek an experienced RVT or Veterinary Technician to join our high-volume mobile clinic team. This role involves assisting veterinarians in surgical procedures, anesthesia, dentals and medical care while ensuring that patients and clients receive safe, high-quality and compassionate service. Candidates must be confident in their technical skills, adaptable in a fast-paced mobile setting and committed to teamwork and professionalism. Reliable transportation is required, as event locations rotate across Santa Barbara and SLO counties.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Assist with spay/neuter surgeries, dentals, tumor removals and other medical procedures.
* Perform high volume induction, intubation, anesthesia monitoring and recovery for cats and dogs (often two patients at a time).
* Provide high quality perioperative care including pain management, wound care and medication administration.
* Perform dental cleanings and, depending on skill, extractions as directed by and under the supervision by the DVM. To perform unsupervised dentals, up-to-date RVT credentials are required.
* Maintain accurate medical records, anesthesia logs and surgical notes.
* Oversee surgical preparation, sterile technique, equipment care and inventory management.Support and mentor assistants, students, and volunteers, ensuring adherence to safety and patient-care standards.
* Communicate effectively with clients, providing discharge instructions and post-op guidance.
*Qualifications*
*Required:*
* Current RVT license (or equivalent experience with strong technical background).
* Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience with emphasis on surgery and anesthesia.
* Strong understanding of pain management protocols and perioperative care.
* Skilled in IV catheter placement, induction, intubation, anesthetic monitoring, and emergency response for canine and feline patients.
* Skilled in maintaining and troubleshooting surgical and anesthetic equipment.
* Adept at maintaining accurate medical records for animals treated, including surgical notes, anesthesia records and post-operative care instructions as dictated by DVM.
* Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with veterinarians and team members.
* Physical ability to safely lift and restrain animals up to 60 lbs, stand for long periods, and handle fast-paced clinic demands.
* *Preferred:*
* Canine and feline dental extraction experience.
* Experience in shelter, nonprofit or high-volume spay/neuter environment.
* Bilingual (English/Spanish).
* Prior leadership or training experience.
