Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of students, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The School Nurse will be responsible for assessing student health needs, providing emergency care, and managing chronic health conditions in collaboration with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers.
Duties
* Conduct comprehensive health assessments for students, including patient assessment and monitoring of vital signs.
* Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
* Provide emergency medical care in accordance with established protocols, particularly in situations requiring knowledge of emergency medicine.
* Develop individualized health care plans for students with chronic conditions or special needs, collaborating with families and school staff.
* Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations.
* Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including anatomy, physiology, and general wellness practices.
* Coordinate with local healthcare providers and resources, including those from a Level II Trauma Center for referrals when necessary.
* Participate in school health programs and initiatives to promote overall student wellness.
Experience
* Previous experience as a nurse in a school setting or similar environment is preferred but not required.
* Familiarity with inpatient care practices is beneficial.
* Strong knowledge of systems related to student health management is essential.
* Experience administering injections and performing patient assessments is required.
* A solid understanding of anatomy and physiology is necessary to effectively address student health concerns.
