Locum - Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine Houston, TX
Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for serving veterans and providing essential healthcare assessments? Join our team as a Locum General Medicine Provider and play a vital role in supporting those who have served our nation. In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations, primarily performing interview-based evaluations with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is involved, making it an excellent fit for providers with experience in general medicine or veterans’ assessments. You will work independently in your own office setup, with opportunities for ongoing, PRN engagements on a half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) basis. The role is designed to be flexible, with quick credentialing and onboarding processes.
Required Skills:
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner with certification in relevant state
- Experience in internal medicine, family medicine, or related general medicine fields
- Ability to perform interview-based exams with basic physical assessments
- Strong attention to detail in documentation and reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, with reliable access to own office setup
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience with veterans' health assessments or compensation exams
- Familiarity with physical assessment techniques such as range of motion testing
- Certification in relevant areas like DME or other specialties
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and reporting systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher
- Active state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, ideally in internal or family medicine
- Previous experience conducting C&P exams or related assessments is a plus
Other Requirements:
- Must have own office location for conducting assessments
- Ability to work consistently on a part-time, PRN basis
- Willingness to complete mandated training and initial exams efficiently
- Must work locally; travel is included in rates
- Availability to perform exams on scheduled days, including occasional administrative follow-up
