We are actively recruiting experienced General Medicine Nurse Practitioners for locum roles providing vital medical assessments. In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical evaluation. No prescribing or treatment is required. This position emphasizes efficiency, professionalism, and compassion, supporting Veterans through detailed assessments and straightforward reporting. Whether working from your own office or on a per diem basis near Houston, you will contribute to a critical national service mission with flexibility to suit your schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform one-time non-treatment C&P exams and health assessments for Veterans
• Conduct interviews and physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength tests
• Complete exam reports and addendums accurately and promptly
• Adhere to all certification and credentialing standards

Required Skills:

• Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Texas or eligible for licensure in Texas
• Strong background in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to perform physical assessments and document findings clearly
• Capable of working independently and managing own schedule

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience conducting VA or military-related assessments
• Knowledge of compensation and pension exam procedures
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and reporting systems

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• At least 2 years of clinical practice experience in general medicine or related field
• Previous experience with VA, military, or government healthcare systems is a plus

Other Requirements:

• Candidates must be local to Houston, TX, for on-site work, or have their own office within 50 miles if working remotely
• Must possess or be eligible for all necessary certifications and licenses
• The role begins on 02/13/2026 and is ongoing on a PRN basis, with flexible hours including half-days and full days
