The Director has 24 hour responsibility to assess the need for planning, organizing, controlling and staffing of areas of service line manpower, materials, technical information and financial resources to provide a cost effective quality driven environment to achieve identified patient care objectives for a specified patient population. Represents the hospital and areas of service in all program and/or product lines to medical staff, hospital, and community. Maintains active communication among medical staff, interdepartmental directors, areas of service employees, and provides mechanisms for ensuring quality care, issue resolution, and areas of service staff competency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Graduate of Nursing Program, BSN/BA required.
2. Master’s degree in business / nursing administration or area of specialty required (unless previously hired in Director position)
3. Current West Virginia license as a Registered Nurse required.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five - seven years progressive management experience or relevant experience in managing patient care related.
2. Professional knowledge base of areas of service line nursing theory, practice and administration.

1. Supports the Plan for Patient Care and facilitates the delivery of nursing care via the Collaborative Practice Model.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of Areas of Service Line and assures the provision of area of specialty nursing care in accordance with specialty, regulatory and CCMC practice standards.
3. Develops Areas of Service Line annual goals and objectives in accordance with the hospitals goals and overall plan for care.
4. Provides annual Areas of Service Line operating budget preparation and monitoring, enabling areas to function within budgeted constraints.
5. Cognizant of environmental factors which inhibit or facilitate patient care.
6. Oversees and monitors Service Line Department Performance Management Plans and utilizes quality control and Performance Management processes (RCA's, Case Reviews, MAIC), with staff participation to identify patient care issues / problems, and to develop action plans to resolve problems, reduce risks, increase safety, improve outcomes and exceed customer expectations.
7. Ensures that qualified staff are hired and trained to provide competent care through development, implementation and ongoing support of appropriate competency based orientation, education, and evaluation programs.

1. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective Leadership to assigned subordinates and maintaining effective contacts with medical staff practitioners, visitors, patients and a variety of hospital and community resources.
2. Analytical skills necessary in order to organize and oversee work of subordinates, and develop/administer sound policies, procedures, budgets, and patient care practices.
3. Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the Department and Service Line hired.
