The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for taking history and physical for both new and established patients of all ages, order appropriate testing, order appropriate treatment, interpret labs and other diagnostic results, document in electronic medical chart, prescribe DME, prescribe medications and refills, decide on a plan of treatment with physician, and other duties as required. Must be able to multi-task, take charge and provide direction to other clinical staff. Employment of this position is through MLK Jr. Health Associates. This is NOT a hospital employment.

The MLK Community Medical Group (MLK CMG) is a non profit, multi-specialty medical group with three clinics. Physician specialties include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Psychiatry, Psychology, Urology, Cardiology, Podiatry, Pediatrics, Infectious Disease, Vascular Surgery, Neurology, Nephrology, OB/Gyn, and Pulmonology. The MLK CMG delivery model allows for ample physician patient time with a team of support staff to help with care coordination and socio-economic barriers. Physician support staff include pharmacists, licensed social workers, medical assistants, nurses, diabetic educator, dietician, and care coordinators. We have also incorporated behavioral health to include a Psychologist and addiction counselors. The three clinics feature state of the art medical technology. It was approved as a NHSC site which supports qualified health care providers dedicated to working in under-served areas through partial loan forgiveness.
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH), a private, nonprofit, safety net hospital, supports the medical group. MLKCH opened in July 2015 as a state of the art facility with all new equipment and technology. MLKCH has 131 licensed beds, including 93 medical/surgical beds, 20 intensive care beds and 18 obstetrical beds.
