Position Details:

Join Hartford Healthcare's dynamic team as a full-time Clinical Lead Physician Assistant for our Elective General Surgery team at Backus Hospital! As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive care to diverse surgical patients, including elective general surgery, colorectal, bariatrics, vascular, thoracic, and neurosurgery specialties.

 

As a Clinical Leader, this is a unique opportunity to build and lead a new PA-led team as the elective surgical subspecialties break off from our Emergency General Surgery/Trauma APP team. Become an integral part of Backus’ growing Department of Surgery and apply today!

 

Role: Open to Physician Assistants

Location:  326 Washington Street, Norwich, 06360

Setting: Inpatient, general surgery

Schedule: Full-time, three 12-13 hour shifts/week. Day/night rotating.

Call schedule: No call

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Physician Assistant
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Physician Assistant in an acute care/surgical setting.
