St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program

Our Residency Training Program is affiliated with Virginia Commonwealth University and is located just minutes south of historic Richmond, Virginia. We match 10 residents per year, including 2 to our Blackstone rural track, and have a 100% board pass rate. There are currently 8 core faculty and in addition to providing a well-rounded traditional Family Medicine education to residents, we also accept 2 fellows annually into our Sports Medicine Fellowship.

Midlothian, Virginia has been voted by CNBC.com as one of the Top 10 Perfect Suburbs in the United States with good public schools, low crime and affordable housing. The location allows for an easy day trip to Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach and the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is something to do outdoors year-round in Richmond, including kayaking or rafting through the middle of downtown on the James River, running (in costume) in the historic Monument Avenue 10K, or biking the Capital Trail – a path that takes you from Richmond to Williamsburg, VA. Many nationally recognized restaurants cater to the “foodie” crowd, and there are over 40 craft breweries spread out in this artsy city of museums, galleries and street murals.
