Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is the state's premier hospital caring for children, offering more than 30 specialized children’s services, as well as preventive programs that promote wellness in the community. Children's Hospital of New Jersey is a key member of the RWJBarnabas Children’s Health network, the largest provider of pediatric care in the state.

As a hospital devoted only to children, Children's Hospital of New Jersey recognizes that the special needs of children and their families extend far beyond clinical interventions. The facility provides an atmosphere of caring and warmth that complements the extraordinary medical care that is delivered by medical and surgical specialists who are all dedicated exclusively to children's health.

The hospital's inpatient and outpatient pediatric services include a state-designated regional perinatal center, pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric emergency department, Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, neonatal ICU with New Jersey's first ECMO unit, HIV/AIDS treatment for children, and a sexual and child abuse program.

Children’s Hospital of New Jersey has multiple ACGME accredited residency programs and a strong academic affiliation with Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), serving as a primary site for undergraduate pediatric medical education.

In partnership with Rutgers NJMS, CHoNJ with the support of the State of New Jersey has embarked on a population health approach to improving outcomes and achieving health equity for the children of Newark.  Innovative programs are being devised and implemented for the major conditions that disproportionally affect the children of our communities. 

Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is one of the busiest providers of pediatric care in New Jersey. With more than 200 pediatricians and pediatric specialists on staff, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center offers virtually every major pediatric sub-specialty. The Medical Center offers the expertise of specialized nurses, respiratory therapists, child life coordinators, social workers and other health care professionals specially trained in treating the smallest patients, and personally dedicated to making them well. Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is an associate member of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions.
