Holidays are coming, do you need to make some extra money? We are seeking a dedicated RN ON CALL for Hospice to provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in their homes and healthcare facilities. This role requires flexibility to respond to patient needs during off-hours, including nights and weekends, ensuring seamless continuity of care. The RN ON CALL will play a vital role in managing patient assessments, medication administration, symptom management, and coordinating care plans aligned with hospice standards and HIPAA regulations.

RATES: Mon-Friday $80 per day plus $50 per visit is called out.

Sat-Sun $165 per day plus $50 per visit if called out

*Responsibilities*

* Provide urgent and routine nursing assessments via phone or in-person during on-call hours
* Manage symptom control for patients experiencing acute pain, respiratory distress, or other emergencies
* Administer medications including injections and IV infusions following aseptic technique
* Monitor vital signs and perform physical examinations to evaluate patient status
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans
* Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks
* Educate patients and families about disease progression, medication management, and comfort measures
* Coordinate with physicians for hospital transfers or additional interventions when necessary
* Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed during all patient interactions
* Maintain compliance with hospice & palliative medicine standards, including documentation for Medicare/Medicaid requirements

*Qualifications*

* Valid RN license with current state licensure required
* Minimum of 1 year experience in hospice & palliative medicine or related fields such as critical care, ICU, emergency medicine, or geriatrics
* OMI certified preferred
* Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage effectively in urgent situations
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work compassionately with diverse patient populations including those with developmental disabilities or dementia
* Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are advantageous
* Flexibility to respond during nights and weekends on an on-call basis; reliable transportation and valid driver's license required
