*Responsibilities*
* Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
* Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
* Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using appropriate aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
* Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry needs.
* Assist the dentist during procedures through chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow with four-handed dentistry techniques.
* Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with medical coding standards.
* Maintain accurate patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
* Monitor and record vital signs and other health indicators as part of comprehensive patient care in general dentistry settings.
* Support infection control protocols by adhering to sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless patient flow, from check-in through post-treatment instructions.
*Experience*
* Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
* Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments.
* Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is desirable for efficient documentation review and record management.
* Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology is essential for accurate patient assessment and treatment documentation.
* Experience with chairside assisting, medical imaging techniques, vital signs measurement, and infection prevention practices will be advantageous.
