*JOB SUMMARY*
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for providing general and regional anesthesia, sedation, analgesia, IV and airway management. The CRNA is responsible for preparing patients for surgical procedures. The CRNA is a member of the Surgical Department.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Provides anesthesiology services and consultation throughout the hospital.
- Assesses patient and reads and evaluated admission reports, physicians' evaluations and diagnosis, laboratory test, and other written documents.
- Updates and maintains accurate patient anesthesiology records, charts and other documents.
- Observes and interviews patients to establish medical history and condition.
- Administers appropriate injection and medication and monitors medication efficacy.
- Describes plan of care, procedures and treatments to patients and family.
- Consults with physicians and support staff as needed.
- Performs quality assurance assessments.
- Follows all physicians Services and MLMC policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all federal and state law and regulations.
- Completes all required professional education including continuing nursing education hours and mandatory in-service to maintain professional licensure.
- Performs other related job duties assigned.

- Participates in education as required through mandatory in-service and acquisition of continuing nursing education, as measured by education and attendance records, maintenance of professional licensure.

- Demonstrates reliability as measured by compliance with MLMC Time and Attendance policies.
- Demonstrates professional conduct by maintaining strict confidentiality, as measured by complaints given to the supervisor or director.
*QUALIFICATIONS*
EDUCATION:
Requires a Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Anesthesia.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of four years of experience in an acute health care setting is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Requires current CRNA certification and Georgia license, American Association of Nurse Anesthetist certification.
