Acuity International is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with experience in Emergency Medicine to support our Middle East program at a small, austere trauma hospital in Balad, Iraq. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-impact environment and provide critical care in support of U.S. government and contractor personnel abroad.
Location: Balad, Iraq
(Travel within Iraq by surface or air may be required)
Position Overview:
- Provide urgent/emergent patient care under the supervision of the on-site Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
- Lead and supervise nurses and paramedics in the emergency department and medical clinic
- Deliver Western-standard medical services and manage clinical decision-making independently with support from a covering physician
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in a trauma/emergency setting
- Order and interpret lab and diagnostic tests
- Develop care plans and manage follow-up
- Maintain thorough documentation in electronic medical records
- Ensure safe use and storage of all equipment and supplies
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA/PHI/PII regulations
- Participate in all required safety and training protocols
- Perform additional duties as assigned under contract scope
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
- PA: Graduate of AAPA-accredited program; current NCCPA certification
- NP: Graduate of accredited NP program; AANP or ANCC certified
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted U.S. State license required
- Certifications (All Required Before Deployment):
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience as a PA or NP
- At least 6 months of patient care within the past 12 months
- Proficient in English (written and spoken)
Other Requirements:
- U.S. Driver’s License + International Driving Permit eligibility
- Valid U.S. Passport (6+ months before expiration)
- Must pass fit-for-duty medical and dental exam
- Sign and comply with International Assignment Agreement (IAA)
- Favorably adjudicated security clearance and drug screening
