Baptist Health Medical Group is expanding the Critical Care Cardiovascular Intensivist program!
The Cardiac and Aortic Surgery Program at Baptist Health Louisville is a regionally recognized and thriving surgical service. The dedicated CVICU team is made up of Critical Care Physicians and Nurse Practitioners who work closely together to provide comprehensive care for the CVICU, performing annually over 650 cardiac and thoracic aortic cases, serving the Louisville metropolitan area and Kentuckiana region. Baptist Health Louisville is a tertiary 613 bed hospital that has 3 other ICUs, 2 large surgical recovery rooms and 25 operating rooms. The new state of the art ICU is designed to support the growing demand of cardiac surgical, structural and temporary circulatory support cases. The unit will have 13 beds (including 5 flexible open heart recovery beds) in proximity with the 3 CV operating rooms, the 5 cath labs and the 2 CV transitional units.
The job delineation for a night shift NP includes the management of cardiac surgical cases from early care till transition to step down CV units, structural heart patients requiring short term care, complex surgical patients requiring longer stays and few ECMO, Impella or complex structural cases. On night shift, you will manage the CVICU patients as well as Step-down patients for the CV Surgery Service. Procedures you may be required to perform include arterial lines, central lines, dialysis catheter placement and intubations. The schedule will be variable and depend on candidate preference as well as total number of APCs in the role.

The group performs over 1000 cases in 2 Baptist hospitals and is the only group in the area ranked with 3-star STS surgical recognition in more than 2 categories. It includes 3 cardiac and thoracic aorta surgeons performing all aspects of cardiac surgery except VADS and transplants. They are known for performing the full array of cardiac surgery including all aspects of coronary revascularization, mitral valve repair, complex valve surgery and reoperation, aortic reconstructions and homografts, Ross procedures, pulmonary thromboendarterectomies, aortic thoracic open and endovascular procedures and arrythmia surgery
