Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Mid-Level Provider (PA or NP) to join our Neurosurgery team, working directly with a single neurosurgeon in a collaborative, one-on-one role. This position involves a mix of clinic, inpatient, and operative responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on functional neurosurgery, including a focus on neuromodulation procedures.
The provider will be an integral part of the daily practice, offering some general neurosurgical support and a robust specialized practice within the functional neurosurgery subspecialty.
Conduct outpatient evaluations, pre- and post-operative assessments, and follow-up care under the supervision of the neurosurgeon.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, surgical procedures, and post-operative recovery.
Inpatient Responsibilities:
Manage pre- and post-operative neurosurgical patients in collaboration with the neurosurgeon and hospital staff.
Perform inpatient rounding, documentation, and coordination of care.
Inpatient consultations in collaboration of the neurosurgeon.
Operative Assistance:
Provide first-assist support in the operating room.
Assist in stereotactic procedures, device implantation, intraoperative monitoring, and other specialized surgical tasks.
Procedural Involvement:
Participate in office-based procedures, wound management, suture removal, etc.
Assist with programming and follow-up management of neuromodulation devices.
Coordination & Communication:
Serve as a liaison between patients, the neurosurgeon, other providers, and clinical teams.
Facilitate continuity of care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings.
Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
Certification by the NCCPA (PA) or applicable NP board.
Neurosurgical, surgical, or neurology experience strongly preferred.
Experience or interest in functional neurosurgery is highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and procedural skills.
Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative.
