Responsibilities
Ascension St John is looking for a Cardiovascular APP for our elite Cardiology team.
First assistance experience preferred, but not required.
This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St John to provide medical services to patients.
Position Details:
- Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients.
- Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest
- Surgical First assistant: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO cannulation
- Order, perform and interpret imaging, data and labs.
- Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement and chest tube placement.
- Navigate and create records in the patient chart using the Cerner EMR system.

Schedule/Call Rotation:
- Position is Full-time day-shift, (4) 10-hour shifts/week with rotating on-call assignments.
- Daily, Weekend and Holiday On-Call assignments are split evenly among the on call team (1 in 4).
Responsibilities:
- Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
- Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
- Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
- Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years CV Surgery OR experience preferred
- Current Board Certification
- Current BLS and ACLS
- Current prescribing privileges including DEA license for controlled substances.
- Oklahoma State License & CSR

Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Clinical Nurse Specialist credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire
date or job transfer date required. Must be credentialed and privileged through the St. John Health System credentialing process prior to performing advanced practice nurse role in direct patient care. - Registered Nurse credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
- Master's degree required.
