Job Summary

The Manager APP offers direction and leadership for Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) in their area or specialties within Baylor Scott & White Health System. It helps coordinate educational programs for APPs within the region and specialty. The Advanced Practice Professional in this role will have designated administrative time, not exceeding 20%, as decided by their supervising physician and regional administration.

Essential Functions of the Role

  • Manages a group of APPs, including hiring, onboarding, training, development, and performance management. Partners closely with physician and administrative leadership on all these tasks.
  • Partners with the APP Administrator about any pertinent APP related issues.
  • Provides patient services under the delegation of supervising physician and/or the designated supervising staff physician.
  • Interviews and examines patients to establish each patient's symptoms and prepares patient database to create or update patient files.
  • Performs comprehensive examinations and medical screenings. Accurately, clearly, and concisely records complete information in patient records.
  • Completes and/or helps in the formulation of diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up plans and/or treatment protocols as appropriate.
  • Interprets laboratory data and orders appropriate laboratory investigations while following established protocols and/or delegation.
  • Follows-up on patient status and diagnostic tests as appropriate and reports relevant information to supervising physician.
  • Communicates with the patient, supervising physician, and other caregivers clearly. Shares any information that may influence the patient's care or well-being. Prepares clinical progress notes and other required documentation by Baylor Scott & White Health policies.
  • Promotes appropriate utilization of APPs throughout the region or specialty.

Key Success Factors

  • Knowledge of Federal and State of Texas laws and legislation pertaining to medical board and nursing board governance of APPs
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission mandates about APP practice in hospitals and clinics
  • Excellent social skills to interact effectively with various medical staff and people. Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules
  • Requires data skills to collect information from diverse sources. Apply professional values in performing analyses. Summarize information and data to solve problems. Design complex systems and programs that cross department lines.
  • Ability to guide, direct, mentor, train and work collaboratively in a team building environment
  • Required to obtain and maintain valid credentialing/licensing requirements at all times
  • Knowledge of computer systems, Electronic Health Records, databases, Excel, Word
  • Knowledge of national and state APP issues, preferred dynamic in national and state professional organization
  • Knowledge of current system and institutional policies, bylaws, and credentialing requirements preferred
  • Demonstrated ability for self-direction and initiation required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

 Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistants (PA): Must be an Advanced Practice Professional. This includes Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Anesthetist.
