Lowell General Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dedicated cancer care team. This advanced practice provider (APP) will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to oncology patients as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role includes managing a dedicated patient caseload, collaborating closely with oncologists and other healthcare professionals, and providing personalized support to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive care to oncology patients in collaboration with the medical and nursing teams.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical exams.
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging.
- Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans in alignment with evidence-based protocols.
- Prescribe medications and monitor therapeutic responses, adjusting regimens as necessary.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and self-care.
- Participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and referrals to support services.
- Document all patient encounters in the EMR with clarity and timeliness.
- Serve as a clinical leader and mentor to other healthcare staff.
- Stay current on oncology best practices and engage in continuous professional development.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Current Massachusetts licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred:
- Oncology specialty certification (e.g., AOCNP).
- Prior experience in oncology or hematology care settings.

- Competency in managing both acute and chronic illness in oncology patients.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 35 lbs).
- Manual dexterity for procedures and EMR documentation.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and chemotherapy agents.
- Ability to respond to auditory and visual cues in patient care.
