The MFM Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the outpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, including prescriptive authority.
Full-time schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Primary Care or Women’s Health Experience highly preferred
BLS certification required, ACLS certification preferred, but not required.
Education/Experience:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
• Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or 2 years' experience as an FNP in a primary care setting strongly preferred
Physician Assistants
• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred
• Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
Current Texas professional registered nurse license
Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license
Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse
Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner
Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
Physician Assistants
Current Texas professional physician assistant license
Recognition form the Texas State Medical Board as a Physician Assistant.
Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required.
Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
* PALS certification is required when assigned to Anesthesiology, Care Team, Complex Care, Fostering Health, H/O, and Neurology departments.
