RNFA is required for Nurse Practitioner applicants.

Previous experience in orthopedics/spine is highly preferred.

Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions collaboratively with physicians in the Orthopedic Practice. The APP autonomously performs patient assessments, diagnosis and implements an appropriate plan of care and performs orthopedic therapeutic procedures as defined by approved protocols. The APP prescribes a variety of treatment modalities to meet patient care needs in the defined patient population up to and including hospital admissions/discharges, clinic visits and prescriptive authority. The APP delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs. Care is based on the nursing process and the medical plan of treatment. The APP will deliver care with a team orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice. Provides practice/clinic coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge, assisting in surgery (if applicable) and prescriptive authority.

Education & Experience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.

 

Physician Assistants

Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.

 

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license
  • Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license
  • Certified as an RNFA preferred (Required if OR time is part of job)
  • Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Pediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/Trauma

 

Physician Assistants

  • Current Texas professional physician assistant license.
  • Certified as a PA-C
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
