Position Responsibilities

As a CRNA, you will provide safe, effective, and patient-centered anesthesia care across a variety of clinical settings.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments related to anesthesia care
• Developing and implementing individualized anesthetic plans
• Administering anesthesia and monitoring patients throughout surgical and procedural interventions
• Continuously evaluating patient status, including vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry, in accordance with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) guidelines
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Adhering to all regulatory, compliance, and patient privacy standards
• Demonstrating professionalism, ethical practice, compassion, and clinical excellence
• Participating in continuing education and activities that support professional competency and growth

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs

Experience

• Previous CRNA experience preferred but not required
• New graduates are encouraged to apply

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to wear lead protection during fluoroscopy and radiology procedures
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Ability to safely navigate patient care environments and transport patients as necessary

Licensure & Certifications

Candidates must possess or be eligible for:

• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification
• NBCRNA certification
• Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
• ACLS certification
• DEA registration
• Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration

In accordance with Yale New Haven Health requirements, CRNAs must obtain appointment and credentialing through the affiliated medical staff process.
