UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC), a proud member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is seeking a full-time Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Joint Commission-Certified Palliative Care team in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
We are the #2 ranked Palliative Care program in Maryland and the only Joint Commission-certified Palliative Care team within UMMS. Our team delivers compassionate bedside care and expert family education, offering continuity and support throughout the patient journey.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Provide inpatient consultative services for palliative care patients, including symptom management and goals-of-care discussions
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a coordinated, patient-focused plan of care
Support smooth care transitions and promote respect for patients' preferences and values
Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and optimize use of healthcare resources
Contribute to daily team operations and participate in quality improvement initiatives

Compensation: Pay Range: $104,416-$144,102 annual salary (Compensation is determined based on years of experience as an advanced practice provider).

UM BWMC opened in 1965 and has continuously grown to become one of the largest and best-equipped medical centers in the state. Our emergency department is one of the busiest in Maryland, serving over 104,000 patients a year.
We performed Anne Arundel County's first joint replacement surgery in 1975, and continue to be an innovator in replacement surgery. We were the first hospital in Maryland to offer the Calypso® 4D Localizing System that uses satellite GPS to zap tumors without damaging the healthy tissue surrounding them.
We underwent a $117 million expansion project that brought an expanded emergency department in summer 2008, a new 111-bed patient care building in January 2009 and a new women's health center with obstetrics services that opened in October 2009 offering a family-like atmosphere filled with amenities for new moms.
In 2009, UM BWMC opened BWMC Health Services at Arundel Mills, a multi-specialty office building that brings physicians, specialists and support care to western Anne Arundel County. And we completed an 18-month, $31 million surgical suite expansion in September 2011, expanding the number of operating rooms from 14 to 17. The rooms allow our surgeons to perform complex surgical cases with the latest technology in neurosurgery, vascular surgery, orthopaedics and robotics.
UM BWMC is home to numerous centers of excellence to serve the unique needs of our patients. Some of our services and centers of excellence include the Aiello Breast Center, Pascal Women's Center, Tate Cancer Center, The Vascular Center, Joint Replacement Center, UM Baltimore Washington Spine and Neuroscience Center, Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center, University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, PET/CT technology, emergency care, pediatric care, psychiatric care, cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation services, endoscopy services and geriatric services.
