Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Care Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our Thoracic Pulmonary Nodule Clinic team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive evaluation, management, and follow-up care for patients with pulmonary nodules and related thoracic conditions in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Collaborating closely with pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, radiologists, and other multidisciplinary team members, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely diagnosis, risk assessment, and personalized treatment planning to optimize patient outcomes.

Operational hours are Monday - Friday and support patient needs at Novant Health Thoracic Pulmonary Nodule Clinic and Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient histories, physical exams, and clinical assessments focused on pulmonary nodules and thoracic diseases.
  • Review and interpret diagnostic imaging (CT scans, PET scans) and pathology reports in collaboration with radiology and pathology teams.
  • Provide inpatient consultations for newly identified pulmonary nodules, facilitating timely evaluation and management during hospitalization.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based management plans including surveillance protocols, biopsy recommendations, and referrals for surgical or medical interventions.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and facilitate communication among pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, oncologists, primary care providers, and nurse navigators.
  • Document all clinical encounters, treatment plans, and patient progress accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and continuing education related to thoracic and pulmonary care.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Physician Assistant studies or as a Nurse Practitioner with current licensure and certification.
  • Experience in pulmonology, thoracic surgery, oncology, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and familiarity with pulmonary nodule evaluation guidelines.
  • Ability to provide both outpatient management and inpatient consultations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
