Psychiatry – Emergency Per Diem Nurse Practitioner

St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Per Diem – Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) team.

This advanced practice role plays a crucial part in assessing, diagnosing, and stabilizing patients experiencing acute behavioral health crises. Working alongside a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, the CPEP Nurse Practitioner ensures timely and patient-centered psychiatric care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for patients in acute crisis
• Initiate and manage treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions and crisis stabilization
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other emergency department staff to ensure coordinated care
• Facilitate appropriate referrals for inpatient or outpatient psychiatric follow-up
• Document clinical assessments and interventions in accordance with legal and regulatory standards

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license
• Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
• Experience in psychiatric emergency care, crisis intervention, or acute behavioral health preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to perform under pressure
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

COMPENSATION

• $75/hr with a differential for evenings and weekends
