Join Our Elite Team as a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Advanced Practice Provider

Are you a top-tier Advanced Practice Provider (APP) driven by the challenge of providing cutting-edge care to critically ill children with complex cardiac conditions?  Do you thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where your expertise directly impacts young lives? Our nationally recognized Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) seeks a passionate and exceptional APP to join our world-class team.

Children's Minnesota's cardiac program is the largest pediatric cardiac program in Minnesota, renowned for its commitment to excellence in pediatric cardiac care. Our CVICU is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled physicians, nurses, and APPs. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, family-centered care while pushing the boundaries of innovation in pediatric cardiology.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Provide expert clinical care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including pre- and post-operative management, hemodynamic stabilization, and complex respiratory support.
  • Perform advanced procedures, including but not limited to, arterial and central line placement, endotracheal intubation, and chest tube insertion.
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians, surgeons, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects.
  • Educate patients, families, and other healthcare professionals on complex cardiac conditions and treatment strategies.
  • Provide coverage for day, night, and weekend shifts, contributing to a 24/7, high-acuity environment. Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Required Qualifications:

*Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate program.
* Current national certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
* Ideally 1-2 years of experience working in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit or a comparable high-acuity setting.
* Advanced knowledge of pediatric cardiology, critical care medicine, and hemodynamic monitoring.
* Proficiency in performing advanced procedures.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
* BLS and PALS certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minneapolis/St. Paul

Minneapolis/St. Paul, often referred to as the Twin Cities, is the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States and consistently ranks as one of the top ten most livable places.

The Twin Cities area offers a high quality of life, world class arts, excellent school systems, an award-winning culinary scene, vibrant culture, professional and college sports, outstanding year round recreation with a bounty of lakes and a half dozen downhill ski areas located within a one hour drive of the Twin Cities.

Minnesota is home to 10,000 lakes – and two thriving neighboring cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul. Both cities are filled with vibrant culture, history, sports and art. The Minneapolis-St. Paul region combines rich urban attractions with an exceptionally beautiful natural environment. The Twin Cities metro area is also a shopper’s delight, anchored by the nation’s largest mall, the Mall of America.

The Twin Cities offers a four-season climate similar to many Midwestern cities. Although Minneapolis is infamous for its cold winters, residents can stay warm with the Minneapolis Skyway, an indoor pedestrian walkway system that links many downtown buildings. The walkway spans 69 blocks and seven miles and is the longest continuous skyway system in the world. The coldest month of the year, January, has an average high temperature of 24 degrees, while the warmest month of July has an average high temperature of 83 degrees. Through all four seasons, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Summer means boating and swimming on our multitude of lakes, and biking on abundant local trails – the same trails used by cross-country skiers in the winter. There are a half-dozen downhill ski areas within an hour drive. The metro area boasts nine state parks within its perimeter, along with over 150 golf courses — which cater to the highest number of golfers of any state.
