About the Opportunity:

St. Francis Hospital, a member of the Prime Healthcare system, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our Behavioral Health team in Evanston, Illinois. Evanston is an ideal location for professionals seeking the best of both worlds: a dynamic, community-oriented city just 10-15 minutes from downtown Chicago. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in both inpatient and outpatient settings within a respected community hospital environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a team-oriented approach, and a passion for mental health care and patient advocacy.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and follow-up visits for adult and/or adolescent patients.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and medication management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Support crisis intervention, stabilization, and discharge planning as needed.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current and unrestricted Illinois APRN license with Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) certification.
• Current DEA registration and controlled substance license (or ability to obtain prior to start).
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in psychiatry or behavioral health preferred (new graduates with strong training considered).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and clinical assessment skills.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $120,000-$140,000 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
