Position Details:

Saint Vincent's Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a strong, collaborative team of Critical Care Providers.  The successful candidate will provide holistic, high-quality care to complex critically ill patients requiring advanced life support, bedside procedures and ultrasonography for complex decision making. These patients are admitted to a closed Medical/ Surgical & Neurological Intensive Care unit and under the care of a multidisciplinary care team with the advance practice provider as a core member of the team. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant has the unique opportunity to cross train to multiple subspecialities including Neuro Critical Care and select your primary clinical interest. Setting: Inpatient, Intensive Care Unit

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours). Differentials offered. Mon-Sun, Rotating Shifts

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant:

·         Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

·         In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

·         Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physicians.

Qualifications


Requirements:

·         Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)

·         Training: Certified or board eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

·         We provide extensive onboarding including a 4–6-month orientation

 

Preferred Requirements:

·         Experience: 1+ years as an RN or advanced practice provider in a critical care setting
