DescriptionSummary:
Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests. Interprets data, develops and implements therapeutic plans, and follows through on a continuum of care across the health-illness continuum and life span. Must have preference for working with and assisting people; must be able to handle a variety of situations and effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and education levels. Will be expected to follow policies and procedures and supports the Mission, Vision and Core Values of CHRISTUS Health.
Responsibilities:
- Provides diagnosis and treatment of common acute illnesses, prevention and maintenance healthcare to patients with stable chronic illnesses, perform physical examinations for patients within prescribed guidelines.
- Provide health education to patients as required.
- Maintain accurate records, medication lists, and documentation of care and follow-up for administrative purposes and reimbursement services.
- Maintains competence in clinical practice, supervises and intervenes with clinical issues and support/directs triage by clinical staff when necessary.
- Adheres to drug formulary developed by the practice.
- The NP will be scheduled in the clinic and available to provide patient care services as business needs arise.
- The NP will care for patients in the ICU and acute care areas of the hospital.
Requirements:
Education/Skills
- Graduate of a State Board and or NLM accredited school of nursing or equivalent; graduated of a State Board and NLN accredited Advance Nurse Practitioner program; State certification required; National certification preferred; Master's Degree required.
- Must possess dexterity to operate computers, perform phlebotomies, start IV's, give injections, etc.
Experience
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Louisiana required.
- Current certification to practice as an Advance Nurse Practitioner in the State of Louisiana required.
- Certification as a nurse practitioner by the American Nurse Association preferred but not required.
- American Heart Association BLS – within two (2) weeks of employment.
- ACLS certification recommended.
