Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to fill a temporary (locum) role focused on General Medicine within VA settings. This position involves conducting interview-based assessments and physical examinations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, primarily for Compensation & Pension evaluations. The successful candidate will be integral to supporting Veterans’ healthcare needs, ensuring timely, accurate assessments in a dynamic environment.

Required Skills
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia
  • Proven experience in general medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or related fields
  • Strong clinical assessment skills, including physical examination techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation protocols

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with compensation and pension exams preferred
  • Prior work in government or VA healthcare settings
  • Certification in relevant specialties or areas of practice
  • Ability to perform assessments independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, ideally in general or internal medicine
  • Prior experience conducting VA or military-related assessments is advantageous

Other Requirements
  • Own a dedicated office space with necessary equipment (for providers conducting own exams)
  • Ability to start on 02/02/2026, with flexible scheduling options
  • Willingness to conduct assessments in various VA locations across Virginia
  • No travel reimbursement outside of the rate structure; travel costs are included in rates
  • Must adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
