Overview
As a Locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine, you will provide essential healthcare services to our nation's veterans through Compensation and Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. Utilizing your expertise, you will conduct interview-based assessments, perform physical evaluations, and ensure accurate reporting. This role offers the chance to work independently within your own office location, serving communities in Silver City, Deming, Hobbs, and Grants, NM, with options for both half-day and full-day engagements on an ongoing PRN basis.
Required Skills
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license in New Mexico
- Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
- Ability to perform interview-based exams and physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality
Nice to Have Skills
- Previous experience with veteran healthcare or Compensation & Pension exams
- Familiarity with government or military healthcare protocols
- Certification in specific medical assessment techniques
- Ability to adapt to various clinical settings and schedules
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree or higher in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in general or internal medicine
- Prior experience with assessment exams or government contracts is advantageous
Other Requirements
- Must own or have access to a private office within a 50-mile radius of designated NM locations
- Willingness to travel within specified areas
- Ability to complete exams on a PRN basis, including 4-hour half-day or 8-hour full-day shifts
- Must complete credentialing and onboarding promptly
- No prescribing or treatment responsibilities, focused solely on assessments and reporting
