Banner - University Medicine Phoenix is seeking a dynamic, team-focused Advanced Practice Provider (PA or ACNP) to join our growing Trauma and Emergency Subspecialty Surgery team (TESS) at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix (BUMCP). As the leading ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center serving the Greater Phoenix communities, BUMCP is committed to delivering exceptional patient care with empathy and excellence. Position Overview:

The primary focus of the advanced practitioner role will be on trauma and acute care surgery, encompassing rounding, running trauma codes, trauma resuscitation, and additional clinic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in central line insertion, chest tube insertion and removal, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy. Experience with robotic training is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should feel comfortable performing minor surgical procedures such as excisions and the removal of soft tissue masses like lipomas. Although we are prepared to offer training, candidates with prior experience will be given preference. This position is also open to highly motivated new graduate APPs with prior acute care, trauma and emergency subspecialty experience that enjoy a fast-paced academic environment.

Work Schedule:

Full-Time Position

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, plus 4 hours of protected administrative time
  • Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekend shifts
  • Additional Coverage: Position may require additional shifts, night coverage and telemedicine support as needed

Minimum Requirements:

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current ACNP with First Assist Credentials or PA certification are required
  • Active Arizona license or eligibility to obtain Arizona licensure
  • Current Board Certification
  • DEA license
  • BLS/ACLS certification (required)
  • TNCC or ATLS certification (preferred)
  • First Assist credentials (preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care, trauma, or TSICU
  • New graduates with prior acute care, trauma, or ICU experience are encouraged to apply

Procedural Competencies:

  • Bronchoscopy
  • Arterial line placement
  • Central venous line placement
  • Dialysis catheter line placement
  • Point of care ultrasound (FAST – Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma)
  • Chest tube placement
  • Brain death certification
  • Basic wound care

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participation in division meetings and practice management activities (approximately 4 hours per week, including collaboration with ICU directors, teaching, and other administrative duties)
