Paid Training Fellowship with full benefits – excellent opportunity for experience in Behavioral Health.

Applicants must be graduates or students in good standing from an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) approved PA program.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Applicants must have passed or be eligible to take the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Examination before the program begins.
A Kansas PA license must be obtained before the program starts.

About the Fellowship
The Wichita State University Physician Associate Behavioral Health Fellowship is a comprehensive program designed to prepare physician associates for a career in behavioral health. The fellowship aims to enhance the knowledge and skills acquired during PA school training, enabling fellows to competently provide care in various subspecialty areas of behavioral health.

The fellowship program offers:
Specialization in Behavioral Health: Fellows have the opportunity to specialize in the growing field of behavioral health, receiving extensive training that covers essential clinical skills and knowledge necessary for effective practice.

Diverse Clinical Experiences: The program provides a variety of clinical experiences across different healthcare settings, including inpatient, outpatient, substance abuse, and consult liaison psychiatry.
Mentorship Opportunities: Fellows receive mentorship from experienced professionals at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, guiding their development and ensuring comprehensive training.
Leadership and Supervision: The program emphasizes the development of leadership skills and provides direct supervision and mentorship from experienced professionals.
Research and Education: Fellows are encouraged to participate in research projects and educational activities, fostering critical thinking and evidence-based practice.
The fellowship program spans 13 months, commencing in the first week of January. Throughout the fellowship, participants will rotate through specialty assignments approximately every month, which include inpatient, outpatient, and consult roles. Fellows will gain experience with patients of all ages, from adolescents to the elderly. Additionally, fellows will participate in Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality conferences, and leadership training. This is a full-time, paid position with benefits. Job Profile Summary

Completes face to face assessments and healthcare services under the general supervision of the agency’s Medical Director. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Evaluates health status through performing comprehensive health assessments as required by agency policies
• Accountable for completion of face to face assessments within required timeframes.
Collaborates with physician, patient/family and interdisciplinary team regarding assessment findings, care needs, and
revisions to plan of care.

Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, family members, co-workers, physicians and referral sources.

• Performs timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policy.
Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of
Protected Health Information (PHI).

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Knowledge of MS Office software.
• Keyboarding skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Multitasking and prioritization skills.
• Ability to apply advanced nursing principles.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• PA-C - Bachelor's as Physician Assistant (Master's preferred)
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Psychiatry experience, including prior inpatient care.
LICENSURE OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
• Current licensure in the State of Kansas Physician Assistant (PA-C)
• NPI Number and DEA Number.
• Healthcare Provider BLS – if BLS is not American Heart Association, AHA BLS is required within three months of hire.
• Kansas State Driver’s License.
• Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas insurance requirements.
