You will play a crucial role in supporting complex specimen examination, frozen sections, and specialized biopsies, ensuring accurate and timely diagnoses that impact patient care.

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to provide locum coverage in the hospital pathology laboratory from February through April 2025. This role is essential for maintaining uninterrupted pathology services during maternity leave coverage, supporting approximately 250-300 blocks and 75-125 cases daily. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in frozen sections and complex surgical resections, ensuring high standards of diagnostic accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

• Certification as a Physician Assistant
• Ability to perform frozen section cases and complex surgical resections
• Experience with gross specimen examination and staining procedures
• Familiarity with EMR systems, particularly Epic and SoftPath
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities
• Effective communication skills with support staff and lab teams

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience working in hospital pathology laboratories
• Knowledge of medical renal and muscle biopsies
• Experience with educational orientations and staff support

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Certified Physician Assistant with current active licensure
• Proven experience in surgical pathology or related fields
• Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume specimen processing and complex case workload

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work weekdays, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Willingness to work in a hospital setting with high specimen volume
• No travel required, on-site presence necessary
• No credentialing needed
