In this role, you will perform compensation and pension examinations along with separation health assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. You will operate independently, often using your own office within 50 miles of the designated city, or work at a VES facility if permitted. This position is ideal for family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine providers with experience in compensation and pension evaluations.

Required Skills:

• Active Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
• Solid knowledge of general medicine principles
• Experience with compensation and pension exams preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to perform physical assessments and document findings accurately

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience working with Veterans
• Familiarity with telehealth or remote assessments
• Additional certifications in geriatrics or case management

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher
• Minimum of 2 years clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
• Previous experience in internal medicine, family medicine, or specialty clinics
• Experience with compensation and pension evaluations is highly desirable

Other Requirements:

• Own office space within 50 miles of designated city (for those opting to use their own facility)
• Willingness to work PRN, on a flexible schedule, including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts
• Ability to complete exams, write reports, and submit addendums efficiently
• Valid certification in CPR/BLS; other certifications are optional but beneficial
• No travel reimbursements provided beyond rates; licensure and certifications are at the provider’s expense
