Columbus Medical Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join a growing practice, providing care across urgent care and family medicine settings. This role offers clinical variety, a collaborative care team, and a balanced schedule with predictable weekend coverage. The ideal candidate is confident managing acute conditions while also delivering high-quality primary care to patients of all ages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in urgent care and family medicine settings
  • Manage acute illnesses and injuries, including minor procedures
  • Provide preventive care, chronic disease management, and health education
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging)
  • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the HER
  • Adhere to evidence-based guidelines and quality standards

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current PA license in Nebraska
  • NCCPA certification required
  • Experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or family medicine preferred
  • Strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

PRACTICE DETAILS:

Columbus Medical Center is an established family practice that has been continuously operating in the Columbus community for over 70 years. We pride ourselves on providing personalized, compassionate, and quality healthcare that allows individuals the ability to optimize their health. From infants to elderly, we provide personal care for the whole family. When you visit, you will find a friendly, family atmosphere where everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and privacy. Achieving and maintaining a state of wellness is our overreaching goal. In 2010, we expanded and opened Columbus Urgent Care. CUC provides a walk-in care seven days a week. We offer onsite labs, X-ray capabilities, and the ability to treat minor trauma in addition to providing the usual minor procedures and care for illness. We pride ourselves on being excellent communicators and coordinating our care with the excellent medical care providers in our community.

HOURS:

  • Columbus Medical Center M-F 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Columbus Urgent Care M-Sat 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Sun 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Combination of 12-hour and 8-hour shifts
  • One weekend per month required (FT and PT)
  • FT weekday shifts will be scheduled between urgent care (25 hours/pay period) and family medicine clinic
  • PT weekday shifts will be scheduled at Columbus Urgent Care only
  • No overnight shifts
