Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to deliver high-quality care within our specialized cardiothoracic surgery program. This role involves a mix of operating room assistance, patient rounding, and outpatient clinic responsibilities, all within a hospital-based setting. Work alongside a skilled team starting in May 2026, with flexibility to accommodate your scheduling preferences. Required Skills
- Current licensed Physician Assistant with active California license and DEA registration
- Proficiency in radical vein and endoscope vein harvesting, interpreting EKGs, X-rays, labs, ECMO, IABP, and Impella devices
- Ability to assist in the operating room and manage ICU/step-down patients
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and teamwork capabilities
- Willingness to work a schedule of at least 3-4 days per week
Nice to Have Skills
- 3-5 years of prior experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery
- Experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella support procedures
- Familiarity with hospital-based clinical workflows and documentation systems
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree preferred in Physician Assistant Studies or related field
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience, particularly in cardiothoracic surgical settings
- Prior experience working in ICU or step-down units
Other Requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekdays and weekends, with call responsibilities
- Call schedule: 1:2 weekday rotation (from 3 pm to 7 am), weekend call (Friday 3 pm to Monday 7 am) with approximately 1-2 callbacks per month
- Travel and licensure reimbursements as applicable
- Guarantee of 8 hours per day, with overtime after 8 hours
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $1.00, weekly pay via direct deposit, and comprehensive W-2 medical benefits.
