Nurse Practitioner - Oncology

Hoag Health, the top-ranked health system in Orange County, CA is seeking Oncology Nurse Practitioners to join our expanding oncology program!  As part of Hoag Hospital’s massive expansion of our Irvine, CA campus, Hoag will be opening an Oncology Urgent Care service line to support cancer patients in the community.  The Nurse Practitioner will play a pivotal role in triaging, assessing and treating patients who present with symptoms from cancer treatment or the cancer disease.  They will provide care for patients with the support of a multi-disciplinary team of staff and providers to ensure the patient is supported and cared for.  An amazing opportunity to join an established and growing program that is dedicated to ensuring the highest levels of care for all patients!

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts available.  Both day and night shifts.
• Shifts: Day shift:  7:00am – 7:00p.  Evening shift:  7:00pm – 7:00am

 Duties:

• Documents in the patient record utilizing documentation guidelines, standards of care and patient goals.
• Perform patient evaluations
• NP will change treatment regiment after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behaviors and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings. The NP will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. The NP also participates in the interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals.
• Works in collaboration with the medical and Hoag Specialty Clinic and Hoag Hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care of patients.
• Provides clinical, professional expertise and leadership for patients, families and staff members.
• Functions as an expert clinician, consultant, educator and leader in patient care management, ensuring optimal patient care management and outcomes.
• Ensure patient care is delivered and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner Program
• Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in California along with Continuing Education Requirements.
• Adult Medical Oncology experience working as a Nurse/Nurse Practitioner or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
• Furnishing license issued by the State of California and personal DEA number.
• Experience as a NP in Emergency Room or Urgent Care strongly preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS.
• Excellent communication skills; customer focused; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.
• Proven excellent customer service skills, including the ability to progressively probe, analyze, identify root causes of problems, provide practical solutions, and negotiate resolutions.
• Computer technical skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products
