Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – General Surgery

UNC Surgical Specialists at Goldsboro is a well-established and growing general surgery practice dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered surgical care. We are seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our collaborative surgical team.

Position Highlights 

• Team Environment: Join a team of experienced General Surgeons in a supportive, collegial setting 
• Scope of Practice: Broad exposure to general surgery, including pre-operative, intra-operative (first assist), and post-operative care 
• Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, APPs, and a multidisciplinary care team 
• Call Schedule: Shared call rotation (details to be discussed based on experience and team structure) 
• Hospital Coverage: o Primary hospital: UNC Health Wayne 
• Clinic Location: Conveniently located near the hospital campus 
• Support System: Strong clinical and administrative support staff 
• Hospitalist Support: In-house hospitalist services available 

Candidate Requirements 

• Licensed NP or PA in the state of North Carolina (or eligible) 
• Interest or experience in General Surgery preferred 
• New graduates with a strong interest in surgery are encouraged to apply 
• Experience with Epic preferred

Education Requirements:
● Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
● Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Demonstrated clinical competency.
● Effective leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
● Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills.
● Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
● Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
