Behavioral Health APC Opening | Adult Inpatient | Mercy Health St. Charles

Mercy Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider (PMHNP or PA) to join our inpatient behavioral health team at Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital. This is a full-time, in-person opportunity focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in an acute psychiatric setting.

Position Overview

This provider will deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to adult patients (18+) in an inpatient setting, including those admitted for acute psychiatric conditions or requiring consults from medical units or the emergency department.

Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis stabilization, and coordination of care to support safe and effective discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status exams
• Diagnose and manage acute psychiatric conditions
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, nursing staff, and therapists
• Assess and manage patient safety, including suicide/homicide risk
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care coordination
• Provide patient and family education
• Complete timely and accurate documentation within the EMR
• Respond to consults, patient needs, and care team communications

Qualifications

• PMHNP or Physician Assistant (Psychiatry experience preferred)
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio
• BLS certification required
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred; new graduates welcome
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
