We are seeking a highly dedicated and experienced Surgery Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to support our urgent cardiac surgical procedures. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes, guiding post-operative care, assisting with complex procedures such as vein harvesting, and ensuring seamless transitions from ICU to home.
Required Skills:
- Valid PA license in good standing
- DEA certification
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery setting
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (Epic preferred)
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently and handle on-call responsibilities effectively
Nice to Have Skills:
- Certification in acute care (not mandatory but advantageous)
- Experience with vein harvesting procedures
- Prior work in urgent or emergency surgery environments
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program
- Demonstrated experience supporting cardiothoracic surgeries and post-op patient management
Other Requirements:
- Availability for shift coverage including weekends (1 weekend per month) and 24-hour call shifts
- Willingness to work night shifts (17:00 - 07:00) across 3 consecutive days
- Successful credentialing within approximately 90 days; candidates with a clean credentialing file preferred
- Ability to support patients aged 18 and over
- Familiarity with hospital EMR systems, specifically Epic
