Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI Health Department of Surgery – Division of Thoracic Surgery is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join a busy, high-volume Thoracic Surgery Physician. This position is ideal for an APP with prior surgical and robotic first assist experience who is looking to practice in both the clinic and operating room alongside the physician.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of APP experience and prior robotic first assist experience in the operating room within a surgical specialty. The practice utilizes the da Vinci Surgical System, and the physician is happy to teach the thoracic-specific aspects of the role.

The practice is supported by an experienced clinical team dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with lung cancer, esophageal cancer, chest wall disorders, and other complex thoracic conditions. This is a unique opportunity to develop advanced expertise in thoracic surgery while caring for patients in both the clinic and operating room.

Job Requirements

Required: 

  • Graduate of an accredited advanced practice training program (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)

  • Meet board eligibility or certification requirements

  • Active or eligible license in the state of Nebraska 

  • Strong clinical skills 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and health-care professionals

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to children and families
