Job Description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider, you will join our collegial healthcare team in Tacoma at St. Joseph Medical Center.  As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with Board Certified physicians and a growing cohort of APPs, supported by a mature and innovative virtual ICU (VICU) that provides real-time monitoring and support. This role involves comprehensive patient management, from assessment and diagnosis to developing and executing treatment plans, performing critical invasive procedures, and ensuring continuity of care. This unique opportunity offers the chance to deliver high-acuity critical care across five diverse hospital settings, ranging from community hospitals to a tertiary-care medical center with advanced services including Cardiothoracic Surgery and Neurosurgery, and a Level II Trauma Center. Every day you will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic well-being of patients and their families.

To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, possessing expertise in diagnosing and managing complex diseases, alongside strong communication abilities. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a collegial and supportive environment. 

  • Work schedule 7:00pm - 7:00am primarily with some day shifts
  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality patient care
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of our patients
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care
  • Commit to clinical service excellence and demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities

 

We are offering a guaranteed salary based on APP experience, a starting bonus, and relocation assistance.  Retirement plans include both 401(k) and 457(b).  

 


Job Requirements

Required

  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current Washington State ARNP or Physician Assistance license or have an active license prior to starting
  • Washington license, ACLS, and DEA licensing required at the time of starting work
  • Fundamentals of Critical Care Support and Palliative Academy in the first year of employment 
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with physicians, and hospital staff, patients and their families
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Strong commitment to patient care team concept and privacy guidelines

 

 

Preferred

    • Ventilator management, central venous and arterial line placement, intubation and Point of Care Ultrasound preferred.
