Position Overview

We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join a collaborative clinical team within the UMMS system.

This role offers a balanced outpatient-focused practice with limited inpatient responsibilities, working in a structured and supportive care environment.


Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Primarily outpatient-based with some inpatient responsibilities
  • No nights or weekend-heavy schedule structure (role-dependent coverage)

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage patients in collaboration with physician colleagues
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care with select inpatient support
  • Coordinate patient care across the multidisciplinary team
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care delivery
  • Support appropriate length of stay and discharge planning when inpatient involvement is required
  • Integrate evidence-based practice and current research into clinical decision-making
  • Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation

Qualifications

Required

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with completion of accredited NP program 
  • Active Maryland NP (or eligibility) 
  • Board certification in area of specialty 
  • DEA and CDS eligibility
  • CPR certification (BLS required; ACLS/BLS as needed for inpatient work)

Preferred

  • Experience in outpatient and/or inpatient clinical settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated engagement in professional development (teaching, leadership, research, or certification activities)
  • Ability to manage diverse patient populations across the lifespan
