Englewood Health is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team in a temporary status, Non-OR office-based setting. This role is ideal for an advanced practice provider who thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment, values collaborative care, and is committed to supporting patients throughout their cardiothoracic surgical journey.

You will work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care, patient education, and ongoing clinical support.

About the Opportunity

  • Six (6) month coverage starting in June 2026.
  • Supporting the chief of service and two (2) additional cardiac surgeons.
  • Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, 7:00am – 5:00pm.
  • Days: Mon/Tue/Thurs/Fri. Flexibility on the specific days.

 What your day will look like

  • Conduct office-based patient evaluations, including pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-ups.
  • Perform detailed histories, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, EKGs) and communicate results to patients and providers.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized care plans.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and long-term management.
  • Coordinate care with surgeons, cardiologists, primary care providers, and ancillary services.
  • Manage medication reconciliation and adjustments under physician supervision.
  • Support triage of patient calls, symptom management, and urgent office visits.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to best-practice development.

Qualifications

 All Candidates

  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery, internal medicine, or a related specialty (cardiothoracic experience preferred but not required)
  • Strong clinical judgment, and diagnostic skills
  • Experience in an outpatient or specialty office setting preferred
  • DEA and NJ CDS registration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification

Advanced Practice Nurse

  • Master’s degree required
  • Current NJ Professional Nurse License
  • Current NJ Nurse Practitioner License

Physician Assistant

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current NJ Physician Assistant License
  • Current NCCPA Certification

Englewood Health offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, comprehensive benefits package, and other incentive programs for our employees. The rate shown reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position; actual pay will depend on several factors, including educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Pay Range: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour
