Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System (WCHS) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Behavioral Health Director to lead our growing behavioral health program while maintaining an active clinical practice. This newly created leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of behavioral healthcare services within a mission-driven health system serving northeast Nebraska.

The Behavioral Health Director will provide strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and direct patient care while collaborating closely with medical staff, advanced practice providers, and executive leadership. This position is ideal for a behavioral health professional who is passionate about program development, team leadership, and expanding access to quality mental health services.

Opportunity Highlights

  • Newly created leadership role
  • Approximately 30% administrative responsibilities and 70% clinical practice
  • Opportunity to begin with increased administrative focus during program development
  • Outpatient behavioral health setting
  • Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Collaborative team environment with:
    • 1 full-time behavioral health provider
    • Additional contracted provider support
    • 6 advanced practice providers across the organization
  • No APP supervision requirements
  • Direct involvement in program growth and strategic planning
  • Participation in Medical Staff and Medical Executive committees
  • Meditech Expanse EMR

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for behavioral health services
  • Assist with strategic planning and program development
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on service expansion
  • Foster interdisciplinary relationships across the health system
  • Participate in organizational and medical staff committees

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $138,669 – $150,000
  • Negotiable sign-on bonus

Qualifications

  • Licensed behavioral health professional eligible to practice in Nebraska
  • LCSW, LIMHP, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist (PhD/PsyD) preferred
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or program management experience preferred
  • BLS and ALS certifications required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
  • Commitment to serving rural and underserved populations
