Overview

Overview: 

In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant is responsible for:

  • Gastroenterology care, including comprehensive GI?focused assessments, rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges
  • Support a rapidly growing GI service line, providing clinical partnership to Physicians and APPs as procedure volume and patient demand continue to expand
  • Assist in managing gastroenterology patients in the clinic, helping ensure timely access, continuity of care, and high?quality follow?up
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending gastroenterologists
  • Prepare patients for endoscopic or interventional GI procedures, manage post?procedure care, and support smooth transitions across the continuum of care
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, abdominal imaging, stool studies, and GI?specific diagnostics
  • Provide patient and family education to enhance understanding of GI diagnoses, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and long?term disease management
  • Collaborative work environment with gastroenterologists, residents, advanced practice providers, dietitians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Five 8-hour day shifts per week, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics
  • BLS/ACLS Certified
  • Gastroenterology experience preferred
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hospital environment while maintaining patient-centered focus
